ABOUT

HI! I'M KIMBERLEY

What started out as the simple discovery of my blood type during a time of trauma, #bpositive became words to live by and the theme behind my message of resilience.

I'm a bibliotherapy facilitator, college educator, and public speaker.  My presentations promote a #bpositive message and highlight the healing power of social support and expressive therapy (reading, writing, moving, creating).

As a survivor of a violent attack that left me with traumatic brain injury, a reconstructed jaw, and the unsolicited role of victim in the criminal justice system, I was able to find joy again through expressive therapy. I hope sharing what I've learned will help others to regain a sense of joy, too.

If you asked me what I do for fun, I'd say I'm a student of comedy completing Second City classes in Stand Up, Storytelling, and Writing Sadness Through Humour. Comedy is one of my favourite forms of expressive therapy. I also collaborate with my husband, Rob Tardik, in the creation of performances and presentations to promote the healing power of music.

I completed a graduate degree in education through Ontario Tech University and an undergraduate degree in psychology through the University of Toronto. I'm now using my research skills to explore the impact of using bibliotherapy and storytelling through memoir to cope with social pain and trauma.
